To celebrate the first birthday of this happy, gorgeous little girl her parents planned this styled photo session.
Ivy's mom, Darlyne, picked an adorable color palate of light pink, magenta, gold, and white. Ivy looked stunning in the lace romper, chunky shimmer jewelry, and flapper-inspired headband selected by her mom. Mom also though ahead and brought along glittery gold letters as fun props for Ivy to use. Darlyne also make this pretty cake for Ivy to enjoy during her session.
Every year the Keep family has a portrait session. This year I was honored to be able to take their portraits for the second time.
When Sunny and I talked about the photo shoot we talked about how to have everyone look great without matching too much, or looking like a disconnected group. Pleasing everyone when you have a family of seven is a tough task, but the outfits she selected are perfect! The clothes are both relaxed and fashionable.
Initially we picked a spot near the Keep home for their photo shoot, but had to reschedule. When we talked again to pick a spot the idea to capture the images near their Colorado River home came to life. This picturesque desert spot is nestled between the river and the open desert for a earthy, vibrant setting. This location is just perfect for this family.
I met Kristi and Stefan through mutual friends and was thrilled to be able to make maternity photos with them. They are expecting their first child in January and wanted to document this magical time. We split the photo session between Kristi and Stefan’s light, airy loft home and the surrounding urban neighborhood. Their home has big beautiful windows on two sides giving us plenty of gorgeous natural light to work with.
The first few days after the birth of a child are filled with busy days and long, semi-sleepless nights. Much of that time can be a blur of activity. I am so grateful that Holly and Bryan allowed me to share a few of these moments following Brynn's birth with them.
We planned this family session when the weather was hot and we had been through many, many clear days in a row. The night before the session was rainy, and the day of our session was overcast and bright. Darlyne was worried about the weather, but I knew that the bright overcast sky was perfect for our family shoot. Overcast skies make for dreary backdrops, but when you're shooting in the trees, the overcast sky means you have soft light to surround you - just perfect for our shoot.
After two years of marriage, Amanda and Jennifer still show the joy of newlyweds. For our couple's session we met at the Cerritos Library Sculpture Garden. This location is perfect for a quick couple's photo shoot as it is full of interesting details.
Earlier this week I had the pleasure of photographing these gorgeous girls.
When I arrived at the girls' home in Chino Hills, Paige and Mikayla were both ready for a fun photo shoot. Together with the girls' mom, Holly, we looked at a few outfits and discussed our plan for the afternoon. They decided to switch off between pants and dresses at each wardrobe change. We coordinated the colors and styles so they would look well when photographed together.
I love maternity sessions because they are filled with so much love and anticipation for baby. I met Kendra through a model call on Facebook. When we met for the first time we talked about both of our goals and vision for the session. She is super easy-going and eager to try any of my ideas. Our session took place on a sunny weekday morning at a park near Kendra's home. The light was perfect and we had a great, easy session. Kendra brought several different outfits with her. I love this cute maternity dress and gorgeous floral wrap. After a few poses Kendra changed into jeans and a black shirt for a casual look. We had fun experimenting with different locations within the park. I was drawn to this dense. I love the texture and color. It juxtaposes with the femininity of pregnancy.
